“Rebekah, I would like to thank you again for all the support you provided to my Margaux. The interregional competition last week went well and Margaux was so happy because she was able to achieve the score, with even one point above, to return to the national category! Althouh she fell on one element, she was able to continue fighting and finished the programm and completed all the combos and earned additional points on other elements that compensated for the deduction. She managed to stay focussed until the end! This is also thanks to your work which helped her to build her mental resistance and self-confidence. I look forward to continuing with you next season as she will have to overcome new challenges! Thank you again.”
“Rebekah Dixon is amazing! Rebekah’s calm nature, along with her professional expertise in combination with her figure skating knowledge, brings a wealth of wisdom to a skater. It has been invaluable to have Rebekah in Amy’s life. A truly wise perspective with guidance through challenges, and nurturing a plan of action for continued mind development, and strategies in working through difficulties. The benefit in having someone to talk to that has been through, or understands the challenges of the figure skating world, and the entirety that this encompasses is invaluable. Rebekah’s skype sessions makes it so accessible, fitting a session anywhere into your life, no matter whether you are home or away. Training your mind is equally important as training your body, so do yourself a huge favour and invest some time in talking with Rebekah, you won’t regret it! Rebekah is a true gem!”
“Hi I just wanted to say that you have helped me so much this year and I have come so far in my skating and just as a person and I believe you helped me achieve all of that so I just wanted to say thank you cause you have done so much for me!!”
“Thank you so much for touching base. It was a great weekend. She had so much fun but was also “in the zone”. I have never seen her so focused!!! I even had parents asking me about what she was doing. It was nice to see her come out on top. It wasn’t perfect but I loved her approach and really want to thank you for all of your work and patience with our daughter. She has learned so much from her sessions that has benefited her skating and many other skills that will benefit her in life”
“Just finishing this group, I have enjoyed working with Rebekah, and would like to continue. Using some of her mental strategies I have, refreshingly, a more positive approach to my coaching. The skaters I coach really like the measurable and accomplished categories of the goal setting template. The skaters like the smart directional practice sessions.”
“My daughter is very hard on herself which is very difficult in a sport like figure skating. Working with Rebekah was a tremendous help as she guided her on how to deal with the roller coaster of emotions that takes place in daily practices to the nervousness prior to competitions. Rebekah, with her skating background, could relate exactly to what she was going through and give her the tools to get back on track. My daughter will take everything Rebekah taught her and be able to apply it to other aspect to her life ( piano, school, career). That in itself, is one of the best investments I made for child.”
“Rebekah was easy to talk to, and she could quickly relate to any problems I was having as a competitive skater and always had a positive attitude and was fun to talk to. I found learning about positive self-talk, and techniques to stay calm, focused and confident at competition helped me the most! I enjoyed doing coaching calls over FaceTime because I could have a meeting from the comfort of my home. Also the sessions could be conveniently worked around my busy skating schedule”.
“I love that Rebekah really ‘gets’ skating and it makes it so much easier to talk to her about what’s going on. It was helpful learning how to break goals down for each performance and I really liked talking to her on FaceTime. This year I competed internationally and it really helped me when I could talk to Rebekah while abroad – it made everything feel normal.”
“Hi! I’m Chloe, an 11 year old pre-juvenile figure skater from Newfoundland. I contacted Rebekah because I was feeling worried about competing. I was not very confident when I started sessions with Rebekah, but now I could say that my confidence level is a 9.5/10! She does a very good job at helping skaters, like me, feel confident with their skating. She did different exercises with me including hypnotherapy, visualizing, setting goals for each skating session, thinking positively, skating outside of my comfort zone, and more! When I started sessions, my confidence level was about a 1/10 but now I feel like a new person! I’m a very confident little skater now that Rebekah has come into my life! Thank you!”
I have experienced first-hand the positive changes Rebekah has been able to make in my skater’s overall performance but most importantly in her well-being. She is more motivated, has goals that she feels she can achieve, and measures those achievements daily. These are all things I have set up with my skater in the past but Rebekah has been able to break them down differently for her and it is having a very positive effect on her skating.
We have been working with Rebekah since November and I am thrilled to say that between Asticou competition on Nov 23rd to Prescott competition this past weekend, my skater went from landing one axel and falling on the other 5 double jumps at Asticou competition to landing the 4 most difficult jumps in her program and just missing two of the easier ones in Prescott. The difference in my skater’s confidence and focus was so evident. She was always a skater that could do all the jumps but just couldn’t ever pull it all together at a competition. We witnessed such a dramatic difference in her performance this weekend. There are certainly things to still improve on, but I wanted to show you through our personal experience what a benefit working with Rebekah has been for my skater.
The Skate Canada Eastern Ontario organization engaged Rebekah Dixon, a Certified Professional Life Coach, to present a tailored session which focused on empowering individuals to make positive changes in their life, define the steps to be taken to achieve both short and long term goals, and provide the extra impetus often required to stay focused on what they need as high performance athletes and coaches. Rebekah easily connected with the audience while captivating the audience’s attention with her dynamic and energized presentation skills. Rebekah tailored her presentation objectives to a targeted audience. The feedback on the “Making Positive Decisions” presentation was very positive and appreciative – I would highly recommend her!
For a special thank you to our Program Assistants the Athens club set up a two hour seminar for them. Rebekah came and gave a pertinent presentation on “Stepping outside your comfort zone” and also “Effective Practicing”. It was very motivating for our senior girls and you could just see the “lightbulbs” going on around the room. They were being inspired. The coaches and the parents were inspired too. Rebekah doesn’t just work with Athletes, though she was a competitive figure skater herself. And I think that’s why I have enjoyed working with her so much. She gets it! I don’t have to spend 15 min explaining our sport and it’s pressures to a random sports psychologist, before we start. She understands it all and I believe that’s why she’s been so effective in my skater’s progress.
Rebekah is extremely good with teenagers. Not only did she help me see the real picture, but she also gave my confused teenage daughter someone to talk to and trust. Rebekah’s high level of education, training and experience make her a very knowledgeable coach. It is her intuition, passion and people skills that make her such a gift to all.
Rebekah was my competitive figure skating coach from the age of 5 until I ended my skating career at age 18. While Rebekah was an excellent skating coach, it was her off-ice lessons that have left a lasting impression. Even as a kid, I always set my sights high. Despite my lofty goals, she never had any doubts. With her true lead-by-example philosophy and drive for success, I think you’ll find “Becky” to be the person you’re looking for. Her love for life, passion for her family, and gift for coaching is one of a kind!
“My daughter just finished the 8 week coaching mental training with Mind Body Coaching. We’ve noticed a huge improvement in Maddie’s training and performance. We also noticed our daughter becoming more confident and landing all of her jumps. My daughter used to pop a lot of jumps and circle and Rebekah broke down that habit. I Can’t thank you enough Rebekah for everything you’ve done. When I see my daughter skate I see a very confident and assertive skater. Rebekah teaches the skater to let go of anything that’s holding them back. I would not -hesitate to recommend her or refer her. She’s GOLD and worth every penny! We look forward to working with her for many more years!”
